I bought this as a gift for my mom but I now watch it also. I only run standard cable to it but the picture is still rich and clear. My mom doesn't see the benefit of a HD signal but I think she'll come around when I partner it with an HDTV cable box. As good as the picture is what I was even more impressed with was the clarity of the audio. It really makes it enjoyable to watch a movie or show. Kudos to Samsung for including such good sound with their TV's.

I had to return a Hitachi 47" LCD because the sound was so weak and tinny. 25% Volume is quite sufficent with this model. If someone has optimal picture settings for this model, please reply. Settings for my Panasonic 50"G10 transformed it.
Update-4/28/2010. I played music from a flash drive and it was great. Great speakers once again. Next up-Avatar

This TV is fabulous. It is exactly what I had in mind - built in DVD and gorgeous picture. Very easy to hook up, literally plug and play. I got it at about 10AM on a Saturday and was watching, mezmerized, by 1030AM. Perfect picture and just the right size, 26". I don't want the picture to be bigger than I am! Ordered on Thursday with 1 click, delivered Saturday - fantastic.

If you are looking for a very small LCD TV, this is a nice product. If you have room for a 19", by all means I would go for the larger screen. Keep in mind that, even with the abundance of digital and high def signals out there today, many channels/programs will be broadcast in 4:3 format. Since this TV is a 16:9 profile screen, a 4:3 display will appear that much smaller on this 15.6" screen.

However, if you have a tight space, like on a kitchen counter under cabinets, this TV is perfect. It included a built in DVD player, which is a nice perk. The picture is vivid and HD display on it is excellent. At this size there is absolutely no reason to go for 1080p. For a 15.6" screen, or even a 19", 720p is fine.

I tried several 2.1 speaker systems to enhance the sound from our LCD HDTV. The 2.1 speaker systems used the RCA audio output from the TV but I was never satisfied with the quality of the sound, even from the Bose Companion system. My original review of the TV was negative due to a problem of dimming during dark scenes. But few days ago Sony released a software patch to correct the problem and it worked for me. Now, the auto dimming can be turned off by setting the "Adv. Contrast Enhancer" to Off. Also, even when it's turned On, it doesn't behave like it did pre- patch, it now dims gradually rather than abruptly and it doesn't dim as much as it did before. Thank you very much Sony, I'm updating my rating to 5-star.

I'm very happy with the TV now that the auto dim is fixed. If you own the TV and having problems with the dimming, go to the support section of Sony's site to download the patch and the instructions on how to apply it. You will need a USB thumb drive formatted in FAT32, but if you don't have it, Sony will mail you one if you call their customer support.
